Our project is about making an emu fly. We chose this topic because we didn’t know why other heavy birds could fly and emus couldn’t and wanted to find a theoretical way of solving this problem. Our group consists of 5 people: Jonathan Vinci, Nishok Nimalan, Matthew Vinci, Matthew Wallace and Riley Nel. We will demonstrate our information on this website (Weebly) and will present our working out and planning in a folder. Our presentation will consist of four topics. These include the introduction, written by Matthew Wallace, our problem, written by Matthew Vinci, basic needs of a bird to fly, written by Nishok Nimalan and Riley Nel, and our solution on how to make our emu fly written by Jonathan Vinci. The way we decided to approach this problem is by using ratios to work out the 'perfect' weight to wingspan ratio. To do this, we are going to compare other birds' ratios and apply it to the emu.
